AZIMUT has equipped the airport of Yekaterinburg with an instrument landing system

Russian developer of electronic systems for civil aviation JSC Azimut has successfully finished equipping the largest regional airport of Russia in Yekaterinburg with an instrument landing system.

In 2018, International airport Koltsovo will receive participants and guests of the Football World Cup. Restructuring and modernization of the airfield infrastructure is underway as part of preparation for the World Cup. Aeronautical equipment, produced and installed by JSC Azimut specialists on the second runway of the airfield, will improve airport capacity.

ILS2700 is a new generation instrument landing system, equipped with a distance measuring radio beacon DME/NL2700; it is weatherproof, and, in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, is recognized to be non-visual aids of precision approach. The system facilitates the pilot to execute approach and landing in the presence of clouds or low visibility conditions. Such radio aids of flight support, produced by JSC Azimut, are successfully operated at the airports of Volgograd, Vladikavkaz and Anapa.

All the works on commissioning the air navigation equipment are made in the interests of FSUE «State ATM Corporation». JSC Azimut specialists carried out installation, starting-up and adjustment works, as well as the briefing of operating personnel, ground tests and introductory flight checks as part of the contract.

JSC Azimut with the assistance of Rostec State Corporation develops, manufactures commercially, and supplies, on a turnkey basis, civil aviation enterprises with the facilities of communication, navigation, landing, surveillance, and air traffic control automation, as well as develops and implements integrated projects of equipping and re-equipping aerodromes and air traffic control centres.
