The leading designer and manufacturer of air traffic management equipment JSC Azimut has equipped one of the airports of the Kamchatka region with an automatic direction finder DF2000. The direction finding system is installed at the airport of Sobolevo. Earlier, AZIMUT completed the commissioning of digital HF radio aids designed to be used in air traffic control systems for civil aviation at the air hubs of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Ust-Kamchatsky, Milksky, and Ust-Bolsheretsky.
Sobolevo Airport is one of the 12 airports of the Kamchatka region, providing local residents with airline service with the capital of the region. The renovation of the airport infrastructure of the air hub is being conducted in accordance with the Federal Target Program «Modernization of the Unified System of Air Traffic Management in the Russian Federation for the years 2009-2020» and aimed at increasing mobility of the population in the Far East, where air transport is the only means of conveyance.
The automatic direction finder DF2000, produced by JSC Azimut and installed at the regional airports of the Republic of Komi, provides for accurate aircraft setting within the sectors where controlled flight routes are through in the terminal area, which allows the controller to determine the direction of movement of the aircraft. An identical instrument, developed by JSC Azimut, is successfully operated at the airports of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kursk, Kurilsk, and Kirensk.
All the works on commissioning the air navigation equipment are made in the interests of FSUE «State ATM Corporation». JSC Azimut specialists carried out installation, starting-up and adjustment works, as well as the briefing of operating personnel, ground tests and introductory flight checks as part of the contract.
