The Russian developer of electronic systems for civil aircraft JSC Azimut (Azimut JSC) successfully completed works on equipping Issyk-Kul International Airport in the Kyrgyz Republic with a Doppler distance measuring equipment DVOR2000/DME/N2700.
Work on the modernization of the airport was conducted in accordance with the Programme of the Government of Kyrgyzstan on development of civil aviation in 2015-2020, whose objective is to improve the safety of flights in the region, which will positively influence the international reputation of the country in the aviation industry and will lead to an increase in transit flights performed by international air companies. In addition, the restructuring of Issyk-Kul airport will enable to create the air transport infrastructure of a fast growing international resort area of Issyk-Kul lake located in the mountains.
JSC Azimut experts surveyed the sites for the installation of the equipment, performed the necessary construction works, mounted the beacons, conducted commissioning works and briefed the operating staff. After ground and flight checks, with the use of a flying laboratory, the radio navigation equipment was put into operation. Having in its design a special antenna system, the Doppler distance measuring equipment DVOR2000/DME/N2700 enables to obtain the information required for an aircraft flight over rugged terrain.
Other phases of the modernization of Issyk-Kul international airport being over, it began to accommodate flights around the clock and in almost any weather conditions.
