On August 29, 2018, S7 airlines flight SBI259 from Moscow (Domodedovo) successfully landed at Besovets airport of Petrozavodsk.
For the first time in the history of the Republic of Karelia an A319-class aircraft landed at Besovets airport, using a radio-beacon instrument landing system ILS-2700, developed, installed and put into operation by specialists of Azimut JSC.
The instrument landing system ILS-2700 enables the aircraft pilot to calculate a landing trajectory more accurately and to ensure safe landing of the aircraft on a shorter runway.
Under the project of renovation and modernization of the Petrozavodsk airport, the specialists of Azimut JSC also installed a short-range radio-navigation system «DVOR2000». Identical air navigation equipment successfully operates in many Russian airports.
This state-of-the-art equipment makes it possible for modern aircraft to land without any problem and contributes to an increase in air traffic. The main expected results of the project of renovation and modernization of the Petrozavodsk airport are as follows: ensuring the required level of safety, improving the quality of air services, eliminating the negative impact of the airport infrastructure constraints on the quality of air services.
