A meeting, chaired by the Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency A.V. Neradko, was held in St. Petersburg on October 2, 2019 to establish a new consolidated unified ATM Centre in St. Petersburg. The meeting was attended by the Deputy CEO of FSUE “State ATM Corporation” E. V. Melnikov, the Deputy Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency D. V. Yadrov, the CEO of Azimut JSC A. K. Saidov, representatives of the general contractor “Almaz – Antey” Air and Space Defence Corporation” JSC.
“The north-west area is the second busiest sector of air traffic management in the Russian Federation, trailing only the Moscow air hub. Given that the area of responsibility extends from the borders of the Moscow centre to the North Pole and borders with a number of neighbouring states, and that this area has a long water border, the centre is one of the most complex in terms of organizing air traffic and interaction with the air navigation providers of neighbouring states.” – said the CEO of Azimut JSC.
The commissioning of the St. Petersburg consolidated unified ATM Centre will allow servicing an area of 5.5 million square kilometres and air traffic monitoring the territory of the Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, Pskov, Novgorod, Vologda, Murmansk, Kaliningrad regions, the Republic of Karelia, the Nenets Autonomous District, as well as over the water areas of the Baltic, Barents, Kara, Pechora seas of the Arctic ocean at a totally new modern technological level.
Azimut JSC is a key partner of FSUE “State ATM Corporation” to establish the St. Petersburg consolidated unified ATM Centre, and is the main manufacturer and supplier of technological equipment, as well as a contractor for the construction of a new building of the Centre.
In the course of the meeting, the construction site of the St. Petersburg consolidated unified ATM Centre, whose area is more than 9.5 thousand square metres, was inspected. The main milestones of the project implementation plan were discussed, and the main points of monitoring construction progress were determined.
The CEO of Azimut JSC Asker Saidov said that Azimut JSC planned to complete the construction of the building and the supply of technological equipment in less than a year and a half from the date of the contract, which would allow FSUE “State ATM Corporation” to put the new consolidated ATM Centre into operation by the end of 2020.
