President Issues Commendation for Radio Electronics Development to Azimut branch

The team of the Research Institute of Measuring Equipment – Radio Engineering Complexes named after A.M. Breygin (part of Azimut, a company within the Rostec State Corporation) has been awarded a Letter of Commendation from the President of Russia for their contribution to the development of the radio-electronic industry and their achieved labor successes. Notably, the enterprise has developed systems for aircraft-carrying ships, as well as various systems for civil airfields in Russia and CIS countries.

Governor of Chelyabinsk region Alexey Teksler presented the award to the enterprise's CEO Dmitry Breygin, who also serves as Acting CEO of the Polyot Chelyabinsk Radio Plant (Polyot is also part of Azimut).

The history of R&DI ME-RTS (Research and Development Institute of Measuring Engineering – Radio-technical Systems) began in August 1956, when, pursuant to an order from the Minister of the Radio Engineering Industry of the USSR, a special design bureau — SDB 321 — was established. The bureau, which soon became the Research and Development Institute of Measuring Equipment (R&DI ME), represented a powerful industry center with substantial experience in developing new products and putting them into mass production. On the basis of R&DI ME and the Chelyabinsk Radio Plant, the Polyot Production and Technical Association was created, uniting science and manufacturing.

Among the landmark developments of R&DI ME-RTS are a unique suite of shipboard equipment for aircraft-carrying ships of Russia and the navies of several foreign states, as well as various radio engineering systems for civil airfields in Russian regions and CIS countries.

"R&DI ME-RTS has been operating for over 70 years. Successfully completed large-scale research and development work suggests a significant contribution both to Russia's defense capability and to the development of its military-technical cooperation. Today, the enterprise is one of Russia's leaders in the field of creating modern radio-electronic means of navigation, air traffic control, and landing for carrier-based military aircraft. We are proud of this award and are committed to continuing our work in the interests of our country," noted Asker Saidov, CEO of Azimut.

In addition to the military and civilian products that the enterprise continuously develops and puts into production, R&DI ME-RTS also contributes to the socio-economic development of the country and the region. For example, the enterprise regularly provides free assistance to schools, orphanages, hospitals, and educational institutions. In 2023, the Institute received a certificate of honor from the Governor of Chelyabinsk region for its contribution to enhancing the country's defense capability, creating modern weapons systems, and its special merits in the development of the radio engineering industry in the Chelyabinsk region.

The Polyot Chelyabinsk Radio Plant and R&DI ME-RTS named after A.M. Breygin, which today operate as independent enterprises, are part of the unified structure of Azimut within the Rostec State Corporation.
