The Azimut Manufacturing Company, part of the Rostec State Corporation, has installed the ILS 2700 instrument landing system at Sochi Airport. In combination with the company’s other solutions, it will enhance flight safety and increase the capacity of one of the country's largest aviation hubs.
The ILS 2700 assists aircraft in landing during adverse weather conditions. The system transmits information to the aircraft regarding its distance from the runway, deviation from the course, and glide path during approach.
Previously, Azimut installed modern voice communication, recording, and playback systems — the VCS 2700 and CDR 2700 — at Sochi Airport. This equipment provides efficient and reliable communication between controllers and flight crews and airfield services, and also enables round-the-clock recording of operational information and data from surveillance systems.
"Based on the results of last year, Sochi Airport handled a record number of passengers, assuming the primary tourist traffic for our southern resort destination. We hope that the successes of 2025 will only be multiplied and that the air harbor will continue to develop. Reliable communication and precise approaches, ensured by our equipment, will help achieve this," noted Alexey Galchenkov, Deputy CEO of Azimut.
The main parameters and technical characteristics of the ILS 2700 comply with ICAO requirements and recommendations. All equipment has redundancy, with components that automatically replace failed elements. Local failures do not affect the operation of the entire system. Airport specialists can remotely control the ILS 2700 ground-based radio beacons and conduct diagnostics from automated working positions at the control tower.
Similar equipment has already been implemented and is successfully operating in Chukotka, the Kuril Islands, Yamal, and other regions of the Russian Far North. The ILS 2700 system has been installed in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as in Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Abkhazia.
